Tourismonline: The ambassador of Sri Lanka to Iran announced the variety of tourism packages of this country for different groups of tourists and said: more Iranian tourists are interested in visiting the historical and cultural places of Sri Lanka, so we have packages that are special for Iranians who are interested in these areas.

In an interview with Tourism reporter on the sidelines of the 13th Pars International Tourism Exhibition, Pishvayan Aponso said that Sri Lanka is a tourist country and have had nearly 2 million tourists in 2023.

The Sri Lankan ambassador to Iran continued: Our country offers three models of tourism packages for rich, middle and low income people so that all people of any level can visit this country.

He also announced the granting of a license by the Sri Lankan government to Mahan Airlines for direct flights from Iran to this country and said: This license was issued about three months ago, but the flights have not yet started and the media is expected to reflect this news.

He added: The Sri Lanka government not only allowed Mahan Airlines to fly, but as an economic offer, it reduced all airport fees for this airline to fly from Iran to this country so that Iranian tourists can travel to our country without any airport fees. And this issue definitely affects the price of tickets.

Afonso reminded: Although Sri Lanka is not a Muslim country, it respects all religions. In this country, we have followers of Buddhist, Christian and Muslim religions, therefore, when Muslims travel to Sri Lanka, there is halal food everywhere in this country, and this issue must be taken into account in the tourism packages that are offered.

Stating that Iran and Sri Lanka are visa-free and it is very easy to travel from Iran to this country or vice versa, he said: These two countries have such good relations that Sri Lankans can easily travel to Iran. At the same time, mentioning that the Sri Lankan visa for tourists is only for tourism, he said: Iranian tourists, including the people of Shiraz, Tehran, Tabriz, Mashhad, etc., are well received by the tourist attractions of Sri Lanka and travel to this country.

At the end, Afonso said about the Pars tourism exhibition that is being held in Shiraz: This exhibition has been held at the international level and I have a positive opinion about it.

It should be mentioned that the 13th Pars International Tourism Exhibition was being held in Shiraz from 13th to 16th of this month.
